THE Mount Pinatubo
Story..
On June 15 , 1991 the biggest volcanic
eruption event of the century
happened in the Philippines. The once
peaceful towns of Pampanga was
rocked by the Mt Pinatubo explosion
covering and burying towns with mud
and lahar flows leaving devastation to
plants people and crops. The once
clean and orderly Clark Ariforce Base
and Subic Base were eventually turned
to ghost towns.
Today , the towns of Zambales and
Pampanga are still visited by
Lahar. But this precious resource is
no longer just considered a source of destructive flows but a rich mineral resource of iron ore . A
commodity that is much sought after by China for its source of ferrous
raw metals. Who would have ever thought that this menace would
soon be a rich source of a precious metal.
